Collaborative Workshops
Playtime Story Hour
Stories give us windows into other worlds, mirrors on our own, and open doors into imagined worlds.
In every Playtime Story hour we read a story together, engaging with the author’s words and the artist’s illustrations.
Then we play- we explore the world of the book together and circle up at the end to reflect on what we’ve made and thank each other.
Who is this for? Children ages 1-8. Caregivers, parents, and teachers welcome to join in.
Act Like A Human
An introduction to an actor’s toolbox for people interested in perspective taking and emotional awareness, rather than performing.
Participants will use tools from theatre and trauma-informed education to work and play like actors so we can better understand each other and ourselves.
You don’t ever need to perform to use the tools of theatre to listen better, have more emotional awareness, and begin to see the world around you with the playfulness and potentiality of an actor.
Who is this for? Ages middle school through adult
Intro To Arts Integration
Art making processes are active ways to engage students of all ages in learning. Participants in this workshop will look at two styles of arts integration as an introduction to the wide array of artist integration options available to teachers.
Participants will explore using arts based practices as pivotal elements of the daily rhythm of the classroom, and integrating learning objectives in an artistic subject with learning objectives in another subject area in ways that deepen understanding in both content areas.
Who is this for? Preschool and elementary school teachers
Classroom As A Teaching Partner
Explore the transformative power of environment in fostering learning and supporting community values.
Participants will see examples of learning environments around the world that have been transformed by the communities teaching and learning in them. They will assess their current environments to celebrate the ways they are adjusting and adapting to meet the needs of their students and learn from each other’s successes.
In the final part of the workshop participants strategize with each other about how they might continue to adapt their current environments given their current resources.
Who is this for? Early learning teachers, preschool teachers, home preschool providers, and elementary school teachers.
Introduction To Trauma Informed Care
Participants get foundational definitions of trauma and its impacts on the brain and body, an understanding of systemic trauma and what that looks like in public, and an introduction to the principles of trauma informed communication. We can all learn to recognize the signs of trauma and to respond in ways that don’t repeat that traumatization.
Who is this for? Service providers, non-profit organizations, schools, theatre companies, human resources, and leadership.
